“I am an Architect of Magic”.

Saga sits down, places her pen next to her well worn notebook, looks out the window. The breeze is picking up, a gentle snowfall is on its way. You can tell by the slight greying of the sky, by the way the birds are dancing through the air towards the bird feeder, even by the sound of the wind through the kitchen fan.

Why had she not thought about that before? “I am an Architect of Magic”.

“Because through thinking you would never have arrived there. In that space of insight of who you are, of what you are here to share with the world my dear.”

The large, white wolf settles down next to her. The way they share space has always been like something out of this world. From day one.

“ I am an Architect of Magic”, Saga says it out loud again.

“Do you remember that stanza which came to you last year? The one which also begins with “I am”?”

Who is that outside the door? Who is speaking? Saga gets up, walks towards the front door, sensing there is more to who is there than she can imagine. Before her hand touches the door handle she remembers. The strophe rushes in through consciousness like a leaf in the gust.

“I am a Force of Nature. I am Power and Stillness in One!” she yells out as she opens the door.

Alba and Rosie! The two girls laugh, hug and cry at the same time. Rosie runs indoors, howls and performs the regular greeting dances, of course including the “hello I love you awesome to see you let me bite your fur and tug at your neck and throw you to the ground as you throw me to the ground good to see you or did I say that already ” wrestling game with AshWhite.

A few moments later the wolves and humans are gathered in a huge pile on the floor in front of the fireplace, where the open fire for this Midwinter Equinox has been crackling since the early MorningStar hours already. The wind picks up. Large, thick, soft snowflakes are being spun and swirled around in a dance  even more intricate than the one the golden sky dragons performed a few days ago. Moonstones and pinecones are laid down on the altar. The four souls are singing together.

“Star Seeker, Star Seeker, find your Star, find your Light. Star Seeker, Star Seeker, find your Light, find your Star.”

Samantha listened.

Was that Vayu? It was!

He was singing, yet it sounded like a whisper.

“Vayu, The Whispering Wolf”! She finally got it! That is what Josephiel had called him as they had met the dragon for the first time down there in the valley.

Two days ago the whole lot of them had set off from the First Dragon Cave in The Mountains of Stillness and Silence. They had moved through many sacred places in the mountain range. Today they had travelled through a plateau, just in between the two largest peaks. Quite a large open space, just a little below the tree line. Some moments they found themselves above the tree line, other moments just below.

Vayu was standing out on the edge of a cliff, howling his songwhisper out in to the vastness of space here in the Stillness and Silence.

Samantha walked a bit closer, sat down on a rock a few trees away from the wolf who now seemed to be a little older than the young pup from a few days ago.

“Who is Star Seeker, Vayu?”

“The one who is seeking Star”, Vayu replied.

“Marcus? But, but….”

“Yes, my dear Flower Of The North”, Vayu interrupted. “Of course he knows that Star will not be found back in the body she once inhabited. He is seeking the Essence. The Essence she embodied, the Essence he can find through his own Star in The Heart”.

“He’s on his way here?” Samantha looked around the trees, the rocks, the open space between the mountains.

“With my whole heart family of all wolf ancestors ever existed, yes”, Vayu replied. “I know that might feel a bit exaggerated but hey, if there’s a journey to be taken why not do it with all bells and whistles possible right? Star in her Essence even sent Storulven himself to lead the pack. He has not walked this dimension for at least 9 years. I am just singing them closer. The Moonstone of The Granite is inside this rock you see. The heart compass will lead Star Seeker right here. If he listens”.

“Still not sure what my journey is….?” Samantha wondered.

“Let your journey find you. Instruction number five, my dear. Openness to be found. Conscious Dawn leads you to that too. No one is ever lost.”

“Ssssshhhhhh, shhhhhhhhh, shhhhhhhhhhh”……

Northern Lights.

Samantha knew by now that the silvery green glow was just a cover up for all the Dragons of All The Secrets landing. If the human eye was bound to the magic of the Northern Lights, the real magic could land closer. Quite clever.

“Tomorrow”.

A little white dragon with gold coloured ears and wings landed next to her.

“And you are?”, Samantha asked.

“Snow The Dragon. Or just call me SnowDragon”.

There was something different about this morning star. Usually as the dawn turned in to morning the light of the morning star would fade in to the blueness of the new dawn. Today it didn’t. It grew brighter and stronger by every moment passing.

“Polaris”. Barry spoke.

“What?” Marcus asked. “I thought Polaris was in the skies with your ancestors and that morning star was always Venus?”

“Polaris, Star of The North, Venus, Dawn Light, The Star Which Leads The Way or simply Star. She is guiding us right now. And we shall follow, no matter what name we feel she has.”, Grey filled in.

“Wiseass Wolf!”, Barry laughed as he shot a pawful of snow towards the wolf.

“Posh Polar Bear!”, Grey ducked just a little too late.

The pack was ready to leave. It seemed everyone knew where they were heading or at least what was going on. Aside from Marcus.

“My dear human”, Grey looked his way. “Just listen with the sense you use when you write your music. It knows where we are heading. It knows what we sense. There is no difference between your senses and ours, believe that to be as true as we know it is.”

The bright star shone even more lucid in the sky now. It seemed to move and then stopped between two of the highest peaks in the mountain range northwards.

“All I can sense is something I can just translate as “the moonstones are calling” “, Marcus replied.

“What have I told you about that darn translating Marcus?”, Barry was getting slightly upset. “Every time you use that phrase you deny yourself the trueness of the moment. The chance of living Life inside Life then stays on the other side of that veil you just wrote in to the equation”.

“OK, OK, OK”, Marcus got his backpack mounted, staff now in hand.

They all got started up the path into the woods leading north. Marcus realized they were heading for the dragon caves in the Mountains of Stillness and Silence.

“How will we be able to find the last pieces of the symphony in The Mountains of Stillness and Silence?” he wondered to himself.

The huge white wolf, the upper guardian of the whole pack whom always took the lead, sent Marcus a picture of a diamond shaped hologram, pulsating all sacred geometry patterns ever created, then nudged at him to come closer.

Marcus walked his way as Storulven spoke “Everything possible and impossible is to be found in The Mountains of Stillness and Silence. Everything ever written, ever danced, ever woven, ever to be, is there. Only there. Through the Moonstone of Granite you can call on your Star as you enter in to your true name of Star Seeker. Step in to your Being with every step you take through these woods, up these mountains my dearest friend and Listen. The Moonstone will speak to us all through The Whispers. Now, walk with me Star Seeker and you shall see that we are not looking for any last pieces for your symphony, we are looking for the everlasting pieces”.

Raidho.

Strong rune of protection. Thor´s rune, some said. The rune of travelling, moving forward, making a good move. The rune of order, of structure, of overcoming difficulties.

Meru smiled. Star sighed. The runes had spoken to the human again this the last morning of the old.

She was protected, divine shelter beaming out through the five wolf hearts, spinning gold and silver stardust threads around “their” human.

Dawn felt different.

She’d woken up this morning with a voice inside her saying “you are a different person now. As you walk out the door of this morning you are an entirely new one. Your road is paved with shining bricks, with talking dust, with warm loving moss wherever you go. You just make sure you follow the calling now. That you listen.”

She’d cast the runes at breakfast, knowing she would not cast the second one until they were ready to embark on the next step.

Wizard and SilverGrey were all set for them to unite, to go meet up with DragonWhite and Elo at the outskirts of the village. So they all took off together.

At the edge of the valley, where the first house since the abandoned barn where the whole Nisse clan lived stood, they stopped. Wizard was preparing to get another cloak out of the saddlebag, this one gold and bluestone woven, for Dawn. She stopped him right then and there.

“Wizard, dear Wiz, I am not sure I am ready for this. Not sure I want this. I still feel the pull of the trees, the pines calling me. I would much rather just go hang in the woods for another few weeks, months, years…”

“Would you really?” Meru asked her. “Or are you just resisting what you know is your gift to do? Reach inside, ask yourself, take time, listen. Pinecones and moonstones.”

Way nudged Dawn to sit down, resting her red wolf head in the humans lap.

Dawn closed her eyes, travelled inwards. Found herself in a chariot with the man of the rune. Him giving her the reins and jumping out to the sound of a powerful storm. Thunder and lightning changing in to hail, then to snow, to soft winds placing large snowflakes gently on the ground. Dawn landed the chariot in the softness. Stepped out. Allowed Wizard to cloak her in the bluestones silver and gold woven robe. She listened to the whispers of the wind. She opened her eyes.

There, right in front of her, the whole wolf pack lined up. Her heartfamily.

And Wizard. The most “heavenly” Father anyone could ever have. Presenting her with her purpose, cause and future on outstretched arms in the form of this magic cloak woven by every elemental tribe, every element, every season, initiated by the breath of DragonWhite. Would she receive it?

Of course she would. Of course she did.

Dagaz.

The rune of the day, of dawn. Of transformation, breakthrough, awareness, happiness, clarity, hope. “Det dagas”.

Dawn Gloria MorningStar stood at the banks where the river met the ocean. Where the sweet water met the salt water. Where everything merged before her very eyes.

The Northern Lights were playing in the skies again this night. They had been truly blessed with many Aurora Borealis dances these past weeks.

Star sat a little higher up the slope, overlooking the human and her hearts guide Meru at the riverbank.

”It feels like everything is a river Meru”, Dawn said. ”Everything just flows and amounts to nothingness, disappearing in the nothingness of the ocean. Like nothing really matters.”

”My dear, wise, melancholic child”, Meru looked right into her eyes. ”The nothingness is the everythingness, the limitlessness. It might feel frightening at times but it’s not disappearing, it’s appearing. First you need to allow yourself to flow with the river, to move closer to the banks when the river appears too wild for you, to move from the quieter side flows in to the midst of the river when you feel stagnation knocking on your hearts door. Travel conciously from mountain to ocean, allow yourself to experience all of it. Make your way through the open plains above the treeline, through the narrow passages between the rocks, past and around roots, pebbles, sand and earth. Merge, merge, merge. Be a drop a water, ascending with the warm air. Journey with the clouds. Drop down on the glacier. Become a beautiful, beautiful frozen crystal. Flow with the river again. All metaphorical, yet literal. Sense what matters to you, choose what matters to you. Know yourSelf.”

Star sighed, got up on her front paws, adjusted her posture. She had heard their whole conversation. She felt so strongly for this human. For her pack. Of which the human was a distinct part by now. Because, yes, they were all her  pack. The Mother. The Crown. The Togetherer.  That was Star. Her role. She was. Meru spoke. Craft embodied. Red was the music between them all. Blue the dance.

The Medicine Wheel was still laid out on the pebble beach. Right in the centre of it Wizard was standing, staff and cloak making him look quite regal. Silver White, the powerful grey stallion, was right there with Wizard. Surrounded by the pinecones and moonstones they both looked like they were exactly where they belonged. Home.

DragonWhite and Elo were accompanying the elves, fairies and Nisse on their way to the village in the valley. It was time for them all to unveil with soft silver-sparkle.

”Why does my heart feel so heavy, Meru?” Dawn asked her heartfriend.

”Because everything has to end for something new to begin. Because for the first time ever you will let go for real. Fully. And your heart knows enduring and holding on better than it knows welcoming. Don’t push the heaviness away. Let it move through your heart, like this water in front of us, washing yourself ready for the welcoming my dear.”

Star moved restlessly.

”Everything is possible in the dark of the morning. Sensing, feeling, knowing, choosing, creating…

“In the dark of the morning…”, Craft found himself realizing something and pushed Meru awake. “That is why you called her Dawn.”

“Yes, brother”, Meru confirmed. “Your Limitlessness, the gift of being able to be just that, is reflected for the human in that name.”

“So then, why brother dear, did she get the full name Dawn Faith MorningStar? It should be Dawn Gloria MorningStar!”

Meru took his time, pretending to give the idea a good ponder, gave Craft a friendly push back. “You always get to the core of the bone, the pool in the heart man! You are right!”

“Howl yeah! What good is Faith if you don’t know you are Gloria!?”

Way moved across the soft hay in the barn towards Craft and Meru. “Guys, we need to get outside now when the moonstones still light the way”.

Wizard was already outside. Holding his staff up to the still dark morning sky. A sliver of moonlight was shining through the veil shaped clouds.

“I know he is out here somewhere. I have asked all the stones sparkling in the moonlight to shine the way for him. I just hope he makes it before it is too bright and the sun takes over the glow. He always prefers silver to gold, you see. Maybe that’s why he got his name, Silver Grey.”

The wizard had hardly finished his last sentence when they all noticed a large shadow making its way out of the woods, following the snow covered dirt road leading up to the barn. Who or what was this?

A loud neigh.

Silver Grey. Of course! Wizard’s best friend ever!

The grand grey horse came out of the dimness as the first flake of morning sun touched the stable door. His long mane and silver white tail moving gently in the morning breeze, like mist. They could all see the reflections of the veil in his tail and mane, the voice of the void in his illustrious eyes.

He walked up to Wizard, put his nose on the old mans shoulder, breathing deep. Wizard hugged his arms around the horse’s neck.

The elves bowed, the Nissar came running out of the barn carrying a finely knit silverthread and greenstone blanket , the fairies placing it softly across the back of Silver.

”Now it’s your turn Wizard”. Meru nudged Wizard to hand over the wand as it was Wizard’s turn get in to his own silverthread and redstone knitted cloak, assisted by the fairies.

A totally unexpected sight met the pack in the  morning. They were expecting Elo the reindeer. He showed up. Not alone though. He was flanked by what could only be described as a squad of elves, surrounded by a large group of fairies, accompanied by a quite a gathering of Nissar.

“Awesome”, Craft howled enthusiastically. “This is it! I just wanted to get to the point where we simply show the human how to walk in magic, and here we go! Magic Mastery Club all gathered! Now my dear Dawn, let us all head down to the village.”

“Yohoooooo-oooo”, Wizard filled in. “We finally get to hang in the stable again. Gathering to prepare for the one, large Star-show.”

“Excuse me?”, Star looked at Wizard with questioning eyes.

“The comet, dear Star”, Elo jangled his horns as he spoke. “We will unveil the humans for a little while, to allow them to see the comet, and from there we’ll just let the magic unfold. Who knows, maybe, maybe this is the one light-sparkle eve that will open some more heart hearths.”

“Wow! This is amaaaazing!” Dawn got out of the Silent Rocks den. “It is like the air is alive with diamonds, like we are all part of the silver of the elves.”

Meru gently pushed Blue out of his resting place. “Come on kiddo, we’re off to the next place to play!”

The group started making their way through the deep white sheet of fresh powder snow, moving like one with yet each and every one distinctly carrying their own energy, their own qualities. It was a bit like a magic patchwork quilt, Dawn thought to herself. A circular, moving one, not a square and static one though.

What a sight it was to DragonWhite as she flew above the company. The Isness of the wolves carrying the purpose of this Earth, the wisdom of the reindeer held by the nature beings as a web in between the physical and ethereal, the human feeling so comfortable amidst it all. Walking in Magic.

Meru, Craft, Way and Star still had so much more to teach Dawn. They still had so much more undoing and re-grouping to perform, so much transmuting to orchestrate. This was no way going to be the end of the journey. It was just a tiny part of a huge beginning. Yet, as Wizard so fervently had pushed on about, there was no time to waste. They had work to do. It was actually perfect that this time of the year marked the beginning. The people of the valley were always a bit more open to the unusual, the magical and the lightbeings this time of the year. Moreover, this Wizard was not a sissy-wiz.

The wolves were off hunting. Wizard was working on the formulas. Elo The Reindeer had sent a message with DragonWhite to let them know he was on his way back to join them all at The Silent Rocks. His message had contained something about Wizard possibly feeling lost in a few days without a reindeer.

Dawn could feel the pine trees a bit further down the mountain calling her. She just had an urge to sit down, watch the stars wake up on the heavens above the cone shaped tree tops as dusk walked in. She made her way down the slope.

In the city she often heard the call of the trees. Maybe those calls had been there all her life? Until she lived in the city she hadn’t noticed, she was among the trees often enough anyway back then. But now, the past years especially, she would wake up in the middle of the night hearing them as if they were calling her name. Sometimes she found herself on the bus riding past a park just having to get out. See the trees. Not watch them. Really see them.

To hear them call her here on the mountain was a first.

Of course she had not gone off alone. Red had left the hunting party early, sat waiting for Dawn under the skirts of one of the cedars next to the yew tree.

“What is on your heart, dear” she asked, wagging her tail at Dawn.

“I do not know dear Way”, Dawn replied. “That is why I need to be with the trees. I guess that might be why they are calling me. It feels like my heart is missing a piece. Like there is something missing all the time. I do not understand. I should be happy. This place is magic. You are all the most amazing, star-dusted, gorgeous gifts of friends and teachers one could possibly wish for – more than one could possibly wish for. Why do I feel this hole still? I think some tree wisdom might be the antidote.”

The wind picked up. The crowns of the trees started swaying, a gentle symphony spinning itself out of the movement of branches and pine needles.

“Shhhh”, Way pointed her eyes to the large pine tree a bit further in. “Grandmother OakPine is about to speak”.

A soft, deep voice came out of the woods.

“My dear child – yes you are a child still – until you see yourself as whole, you will not feel whole. You have to listen to all those whispers you hear when you wake up, the whispers you hear throughout the day, as you settle in to sleep. Listen and decide which ones are you sending off and which ones are you inviting in to light your candles with. There are still whispers feeding the gap in your heart. Remember your meaningfulness, your limitlessness. The whispers you hear when you feel limited, closed up, like you are missing something – talk to them. Tell them you are Meaningful, you are Limitless, you are Bravery. Tell them their work is done here, thank them for their service, they are welcome to move on and you wish them all the joy and happiness the universe can gift them as they do. Then you stand tall like a fir, let the winds move you, feel your roots beautifully reaching down and spreading wide in the nurturing depths of Earth Mother, welcoming her Angels. And then you start anew. New moment, new Dawn, remember?”

“Now, that’s the Way”, Red laughing hard at her own cleverness.

She was wondering. When was she Red? When was she Way? Why could she not understand the human heart?

She’d spent so much time around the village and the farms in the valley. She’d followed hikers and hunters up and down the mountain. She could feel their loneliness, their longing for something outside of themselves without knowing the button to push for connection lay inside of them. Even the ones that did know got caught up in that outside – ness anyway.

“Way”, Meru said. “The outsideness, that is when you are Red. The inner business, that is when you are Way. But actually you are Way The Red. Just like I am Meru The Grey. Just like Craft  is Craft The Black, Star is Star The White, Charm is Charm The Blue Little Pup –  who will grow up to be Charm The Great Blue Sparkle, the wolf who watches over the oceans. When all aspects come together, that is when we Are.

The whole wolf pack lay curled up just outside the opening of the Silent Rocks.

Craft got up and said “It would be nice to stay here for a few days. Just hang. Share. Walk together. Be together. Just rest in all the different ways one can rest.”

“I am all in for that brother dear”, Star almost sang as she placed herself where she could look up at them all. “I guess the choice is Red’s. She’s the one with all the questions today.”

“We stay”, Red replied. “Just stay. Right here. It can be our base for now, right?”

They all howled, agreeing.

Wizard poked his head out through the opening of The Silent Rocks. “What’s all this I hear? Staying put here? But, but, but what about all the stories to be written, all the magic to be done?”

Meru walked across, nudging Wizard in the face with his snout.

“We will walk, we will sing, we will weave and tell and build and transmute just by being all that which we are. You’re a wizard for crying out loud! You do the magic, we do the rest”, his wolf-laughter taking over.

“Ok, ok, ok Meru, I know you know me better than myself”. Wizard laughed along. “Remaining here it is. Sharing space is the truest cauldron for magic . I am getting really excitedly happy just thinking about it actually.”

“Yohohoooooo! Whaaazzzzuuuuup!?” Blue rolled out of the cave, tumbling down the gentle slope. Dazzled, squinting at everyone with his sparkly eyes. “Did I hear the word magic?”

Through the raging storm there was a gentle ringing of bells, as if the stars above the clouds were doing a lightdance. The further up the mountain they got the clearer the sky, the gentler the storm.

It was really true, Dawn noticed. You did feel totally renewed, recalibrated even, after the long hike through the blizzard.

Craft stopped. He had been leading the pack the past hour. Now, as the sun was setting across the other side of the mountains, it was time for a bit of a breather for them all. Time to settle in for the eve, get burrowed in underneath either the low growing mountain birches or in the wedges between the rocks.

Blue the pup, Star and Way started to rearrange the snow at the entrance of the silent rocks as they were called. Meru and Wizard took turns moving all the fallen dry birch branches scattered around to the opening. They would make a great entrance floor as well as firewood for the human.

“Craft, why do I feel so at home around you and at the same time so fantastically in awe?” Dawn sat down next to the large black wolf.

“Dawn, dear”, he cleared his throat. This sort of felt formal and he could not fully understand why. “What you humans over and over again fail to understand is that you can only see in others what you carry in yourself. I sense that you are becoming aware of this more and more though. Like somebody has opened a huge, very heavy, thick door, letting the understanding shine through in to your being. Limitless. Belonging. Part of. Unlimited. I believe that is what you feel. That is home. And awe. Home is this feeling of awe, of limitlessness. This. What you are seeing, feeling, sensing right now.”

She looked up at Craft. The stars were out in the sky. Colours of the galaxies reflecting his being. Focused, welcoming eyes. No fakeness. Oh, how she wanted to feel like this all the time.

”It’s a matter of choice my dear Dawn. Over and over again. Practice making these choices. Every choice matters. Every choice is yours. Give that power to yourself, and you are giving it to others. Now, let’s just enjoy the shooting stars.”

How was it possible to move like this, between a feeling of despair, of being lost to totally belonging?
